And what I essay here is modest,
but difficult:
a description of the self and process
struggling, like a sparrow
in a net, against the grid of history
which surrounds me.
To describe the world
within the geography of the cosmos
is ambitious, but simple:
it is the Middle Zone between Heaven and Hell,
where perfection and chaos
have arranged themselves
into the real and inescapable.
